The YWZ5 (YWZ9) electro-hydraulic brake is a safety protection device that enables controllable release via electro-hydraulic means and automatically performs emergency braking in the event of a power failure using built-in spring force. Structure and working principle

 
 

 

The YWZ5 (YWZ9) electro-hydraulic brake adopts a normally closed safety design. Its core structure consists of a brake frame (including left and right brake arms and brake pads), an electro-hydraulic actuator (which integrates a motor, oil pump, and piston rod as the power source), a lever-spring system responsible for transmission (with the main spring providing the closing force required for braking), and a torque and clearance adjustment device.

The YWZ5 (YWZ9) electro-hydraulic brake operates on the principle of "release upon energization, braking upon de-energization" for fail-safe operation. When energized, the electro-hydraulic actuator starts, driving the impeller to generate hydraulic pressure. This pressure pushes the piston and push rod upwards, overcoming the spring force of the main spring through the lever system. As a result, the brake arm opens, the brake pad disengages from the brake wheel, and the brake is released. Simultaneously, the main spring is compressed and stores energy. When de-energized, the actuator stops working, the hydraulic pressure dissipates instantly, and the compressed main spring immediately releases its stored energy, driving the lever system in the opposite direction. This forces the brake arm to close rapidly, causing the brake pad to press tightly against the brake wheel, generating a strong frictional torque and reliably completing the braking process. The entire process relies on the spring as the inherently safe power source, ensuring automatic braking in the event of a power failure.

II. Applicable Working Conditions

Working Cycle: Suitable for S3-S5 duty cycles (intermittent periodic duty), i.e., frequent starts and stops, such as those found in the standard working conditions of a crane.

Ambient Temperature: Typically suitable for ambient temperatures ranging from -25°C to +40°C (the hydraulic oil in the actuator should be selected according to the low-temperature environment).

Protection Rating: The standard product generally has an IP55 protection rating, providing dust protection and protection against water spray from all directions. It is suitable for indoor or semi-open environments (such as workshops and docks) with dust, humidity, and non-corrosive water mist.

Extreme Environments Where This Product Is Not Suitable:

Environments with explosive gases (unless an explosion-proof variant is selected).

Environments exposed to direct splashes of strong acids, strong alkalis, or other highly corrosive gases or liquids.

Environments severely contaminated with oil, as oil will significantly reduce the friction coefficient of the brake pads, leading to brake failure.

Installation locations subject to severe vibration without damping measures.

The YWZ5 (YWZ9) electro-hydraulic brake is primarily mounted to the equipment foundation via base mounting or bracket mounting. The core installation process is as follows: First, ensure that the brake wheel is installed correctly. Then, position the brake initially and complete critical alignment adjustments. Specifically, use shims and adjusting devices to ensure that the centerline of the brake pads is strictly aligned with the centerline of the brake wheel. Additionally, ensure that the retraction distance between the pads on both sides and the brake wheel is uniform and symmetrical. After alignment, tighten all anchor bolts evenly in stages to complete the final fixation. Next, connect the actuator power cable. Finally, adjust the main spring according to equipment requirements to set the braking torque, and perform functional tests of energized release and de-energized braking to ensure synchronized action and reliable braking. The entire installation process emphasizes the rigidity of the foundation, precision in alignment, and the standardization of final adjustments.
