The ED-series electro-hydraulic thruster
Application Scenarios:
Industrial brake matching
As the primary application scenario, this thruster is paired with block brakes and disc brakes for use with equipment including cranes, winches, and belt conveyors. When the push rod extends, it pushes the brake shoe open to achieve release; when retracted, it works with a spring to complete holding, thereby controlling the starting, stopping, and emergency braking of the equipment.
Material conveying equipment
In the tensioning devices of belt conveyors and scraper conveyors, the thruster adjusts the tension of the conveyor belt via the extension and retraction of the push rod, preventing slippage or damage caused by excessive tension. It can also be used for the switch control of discharge valves and distributors, driving the action of valve cores and baffles.

Construction and engineering machinery
In the safety braking systems of elevators and lifts, it serves as an auxiliary drive component to control the opening and closing of brake calipers. It is also applied to the luffing mechanisms and slewing mechanisms of tower cranes, adjusting the braking state to ensure operational safety.
Valve and gate control
It is suitable for butterfly valves and gate valves in industrial pipelines, as well as small gates in the water conservancy and municipal sectors. By means of push rod extension and retraction, the valves or gates can be opened and closed to achieve fluid flow control or regulation, and it is particularly suited for medium and low-pressure valves requiring stable thrust output.
Usage conditions:
-
Environmental Requirements: The ED-series electro-hydraulic thruster is suitable for operation within a temperature range of -20℃ to +50℃. If DB-25 hydraulic oil is used when temperatures drop below -20℃, a heater must be installed; conversely, YH-10 aviation hydraulic oil requires no additional heating. Meanwhile, the ambient relative humidity shall not exceed 90%, and the operating environment must be free of flammable, explosive or corrosive gases and dust that may damage electrical insulation. Installation altitude must comply with relevant standards.
-
Operating Duty Cycle: The thruster supports two operating modes: continuous operation (S1) and intermittent operation (S3-60%), making it adaptable to diverse working conditions.
-
Power Supply Specifications: The standard power supply is three-phase AC 380V at a frequency of 50 (60) Hz. For applications requiring special voltage or frequency, customized solutions can be negotiated with the manufacturer.
-
Motor Parameters: The unit is equipped with a three-phase AC asynchronous motor that complies with GB 755-2000. The motor features an insulation class of F and an IP65 protection rating, ensuring safe and stable long-term operation.
Selection of installation methods:
- Vertical Installation: The piston rod and connecting rod shall face upward.
- Horizontal Installation & Intermediate Angles: The main parameter label shall face upward. For detailed installation configurations, refer to the diagram below.
-
All piston rods and connecting rods of the thruster can rotate at any angle. The mounting bases of models ED50 to ED301 allow a 90° rotation; for models ED23 to ED30, the mounting bases also support 90° rotation, but this will increase the installation height dimension A by 8 mm (this requirement must be specified when placing an order).
-
Regardless of the installation orientation, the piston rod must not be subjected to radial force, so as to prevent adverse effects on its performance and service life.

Additional devices:
- Various auxiliary devices can be installed per user requirements to satisfy diverse operational needs.
- Lifting/Lowering Valve: Installing a lifting valve (marked "H"), lowering valve (marked "S"), or combined lifting & lowering valves (marked "H, S") can prolong the extension and retraction cycle. The maximum adjustable duration can reach 10–20 times the rated value. The valve features external adjustment. When the actuator with the valve is fully opened, its extension and retraction time will be lengthened-with an extension of 0.1–0.2 seconds for short-stroke models and 0.2–0.4 seconds for long-stroke models.
- Brake Spring: This component generates braking force. The brake spring force values listed in Table 1 refer to the spring force at 1/3 of the upward stroke (equivalent to 2/3 of the downward stroke).
- Return Spring: It operates on the same principle as the C-spring, but with a lower force rating.
- Buffer Spring: (Applicable only to short-stroke models) It is primarily designed to modulate the braking process, cushioning the aperiodic transient state during braking to ensure smooth stopping performance. This spring replaces the push rod's connecting block and is mounted on the piston rod without altering the thruster's stroke.Note: A travel switch cannot be installed when a D-spring is fitted, and the D-spring must be used in conjunction with a C-spring.
- Heater: A heater can be installed upon user request for applications where the ambient temperature falls below -20℃. Heaters are available in AC 220V and AC 110V voltage ratings, and the required voltage must be specified when placing an order. The temperature control and adjustment method is selected at the user's discretion.
- Travel Switch: The thruster can be equipped with a mechanical travel switch based on user requirements.
